Who regulates magazines? IPSO stands for independent press standards organisation. They are an organisation that regulate the newspapers and magazines, they consider the concerns and conducts its own investigations into editorial standards and compliance. They are independent from the government and they make sure the magazines and newspapers follow all of the rules. They are independent which means they are unbiased, true and fair. The Editors’ Code of Practice sets out the rules that members regulated by IPSO have agreed to follow. The Code is written and reviewed by the Editors’ Code Committee. It is enforced by IPSO. The latest version of the Editors’ Code of Practice came into effect on 1 January 2021. These codes balance both the rights of the individual and the public’s right to know.
