juxtaposition- the placing of one elements next to another to create a specific meaning.
made of address- the way in which a media product speaks to or attracts its audience
denotation- the literal meaning of a code. sign or generation convention of a media text or product.
connotation- the suggested possible meanings of any given demonstration
masthead- the title of a publication as it appears on the front cover, and associated design elements that make it recognizable
anchorage- the way in which sound or text is used in media products to help pin down the mood or meaning of the media product for the audience.
dissolve- new shot fades in while pervious fade way, connotes passage of time
wipe- new shot goes across screen this could be top to bottom or side to side
fade in, fade out- usually used for waking up or going to sleep
cut- changing of scenes
cutaway- cutting to one shot but not going back to the original
cross cutting- jumps back and froth in a shot, show what's going o in a characters head
jump cut- jumps from the same scene
match cut- one shot to a similar cut
smash cut- abrupt transition such as someone watching up dramatically
invisible cut-
diegetic- sound that characters can hear in the world of film i.e. dialogue accents, sound effects wild tracks, ambient.
non- diegetic- sound that only the audience can hear i.e. music incidental, music, sounds motifs, voice over.
