techniques revision

 continuity- when one scene flows to another without it being different. if u hold a cup in your left hand then change the shot that cup still should be in your left hand. non continuity- graphic match, flashforward, flashback, time lapse.  sound bridge- when sound carries on from one scene to another. silence- silence is the absence of all sound.  foley sound- the art of creating sounds which match what you see on screen.

micro means small that can be observed (can see) macro means large that can't be observed (can't see) micro- tagline, anchorage, by-line, barcode, price. macro- register, representation, tone, target audience.  representation means- how different groups of people, idea and ideologies are portrayed by the media.  Walter Lippman said for representation to be meaningful to audiences there needs to be shared recognition of people, situations and ideas, such as stereotypes.  Roland Barthes- argued that there are two levels to any sign or visual representation connotation and denotation.  semiotics- an investigation into how meaning is created and how meaning is communicated.  ideology is a set of beliefs or philosophies attributed to a person or group of persons.  symbolic code- something that symbolises it like a heart means love.  semantic codes- something signifying something such as horror having a lot of reds and black.  action codes- if someone s...

McDonalds Monopoly and Share A Coke campaigns: McDonalds Monopoly: The campaign McDonalds Monopoly created a huge amount of social media content which got the word around about the campaign. The packaging and promotions would encourage the customers to share the photos of their instant wins and “monopoly mo selfies by sharing them on social media platforms like Vine, Twitter or Instagram or Facebook. McDonalds wanted to add the social media into their promoting their campaign to become more popular, a cross-platform hashtag was created “#MonopolyatMaccas”.  On McDonald’s Australia’s website and Facebook page this # what is placed to create more advertising and increase the participation with a monopoly game. Mise-en-scene: a French term meaning what is put into a scene or frame, visual information in front of the camera, communicates essentials information to the audience, made up of 5 elements costumes/ set design/ lighting/ facial expressions/ positioning of camera.  All the elements of mise-en-scene are used to describe the giegetic world (gienetic world- the fictional world.) Setting and props- Setting and locations play and important pert in film making and are not just backgrounds, sets are either built from scratch or a great deal of time is spent to find a setting which is already exists, settings can manipulate an audience by building certain expectations and then a different turn.  costume, hair and makeup-  costumes, hair and makeup act as an instant indicator to us of a characters personality, status and job, it tells us immediately whether the film is set in the present and what society/ or culture it will centre around.  facial expressions- ...

What is an audience and why are the important?  Without audiences there will be no media which shows how important media is.  Media organizations produce media and texts to make profit- no audience = no profit. conventions- the ingredients of a text- what features make up the text. we ask oursleves how do e know we are watching, listening, reading.  gaming- a family party game, group activity, bright colors, interactive, some physical elements.  film- horror movie, dark colours, suspense, creepy scenes, showing peoples expressions, the horror within the people. music video- team boy/ girl, over the top, lots of colour to attract audience, out of the box, nothing makes sense, movie like scenes, cringy, lots of editing, always some love interest or enemy or sadness.
