Audio Visuals P1- audio visual promo report and types
Audio visuals report
Audio Visual Promos are a piece of media that may have both visual and audio components, audio components only or visual components only. Audio visuals are mainly used to inform, educate, entertain, sell products and find fitness of purpose. An example of this can be a get ready with me on TikTok that promotes a new brand of makeup or an advert on Instagram selling you a new bag. These visual promos can be ads for selling a product, educating us on a new media product so it could be used to educate and promote a university and their courses. They could be used to inform us on an update on an existing product, or they could be used to entertain.
Educate:
Adverts sometimes are there to do a few things and one is to educate, one reason why they do this to educate people on things that are either happening in the world or that they need to know. An example I'm going to use is when coronavirus was around people where not allowed to leave their homes and so tv was one of the only ways to know what was going on which means these adverts where there to educate people on what is going on. The NHS set up an advert to tell people what they needed to do when they leave their houses during this time, this is one of the main reason for the advert to educate. Within the advert they make sure they keep it friendly and comfortable so people would still watch it without people worrying about the virus and they put simple steps in place for people to follow.
This is so people are now educated on what they need to do when they leave their house or go meet people at this time. They have made other educating adverts that have appealed to different target audiences for example there are some that have appealed to children that it going to make them feel at ease with what was going on, then there has been some targeted to the elderly and people at high risk which is going to be a bit more serious than the children educating advert. So some adverts are going to be different but educate people about the same problem.

Entertain:
Adverts can also be there to entertain or it can be for something entertaining. Such as a trailer for a new movie which is advertising the new movies but it is also a form of entertainment. There can be adverts that are also for things such as gaming and a new game coming out with is again the same kind of theme where they are there to promote something but it is there to overall entertain or promote the thing that is entertaining such as a movie or a game. Adverts such as the John Lewis adverts are there to entertain even thought they can be upsetting they are still there for you to watch and enjoy. Even though they are promoting something that's what some adverts are there to do but it is also there for you to enjoy and watch with ease. The adverts are the Christmas themed adverts that have become very popular and many people get ready for the new advert to come out so they can decide if they enjoy it or not. That is what the entertaining adverts are there to do make sure you sit down and watch it.

Inform:
Adverts that are added to websites can inform you on certain things such as someone informing people on the school or university. They add little adverts onto their pages to make sure that people will know about these certain places. Schools might add them into their websites or on their platform to make sure that they can inform students on different universities. This is just one example on how adverts can be there to inform people on different subjects even if it informing people on news or education. The example I can use is an advert for a university.

Sell:
Many adverts are there to sell a product, a lot of selling adverts are found on different media platforms such as to adverts and social media. Social media platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and twitter are used to promote small or big businesses. Social media is just another way of getting their products out to different audiences and this is why you see adverts are found on a lot of different social media apps now. An example of this could be seeing a jewelry advert on Instagram because you may have liked past posts on jewelry and the algorithm has put a jewelry advert from a small business promotion their new products. This also is shown on tv and they keep them short but snappy so you don’t get essentially bored but you stay interested to go and have a look on social media for the product this is one technique they use by having many different platforms you can see the product on. This is just a link to an example of a website that sells their jewelry online but also have it on different media forms such as social media.

Types of Audio Visual Promos
This is a report on an iPhone advert, this iPhone advert shows us new features about the phone. We have used this as our example because it hits all the criteria we need to talk about, purpose, audience, techniques and semiotics. An Apple advert that is showing us all the different features of the phone will have many different selling points and they will show this in their audio visual promo. The techniques will be shown ibn this and that is what I explain in this piece.
Purpose
Purpose- The purpose of this advert was to sell, they wanted to sell this product so that people would buy and use it on the daily basis.
Audience
Audience- The audience is people that are in the older generation because it is a phone which is usually aimed for the older generation because children won't use phones. It is a very adventurous advert that shows what the benefits of this new phone is and that the aim to get people that will think that this will benefit them also. I think that the main target audiences is for people that might be in the middle business class and that are a little adventures.
Techniques
Techniques that have been used to sell the product. They have featured all the new features in the advert meaning they have made sure that this advert is to sell their product so they want it to look different to all the other phone products so they have emphasised on the new features of the phone and made sure that people know it is an improvement to what they might have. They have made sure they show the new features in an aggerated sense such as the man dropping the phone on the motorbike and it not smashing, they do this to show the full potential of the phone's new features. People will think that it is good quality with the conditions and want to buy it for themselves, so they have all the new latest features.
Semiotics
Comments on semiotics- They use a slow motion at the start and the camera follows that phone which makes you look at the subject it is focusing on which is the phone, this makes people look closely at what they are showing. After the slow motion they do the same camera layout but with the camera of the phot to show off the new camera on the new iPhone, this is what they do to show off all the new features on the iPhone. They show off the apple logo on the phone every time they show off the phone, so you know that it is an apple product it makes you think and look at those types of products, if you see this on YouTube but then see a poster on it when you're out and about it definitely make you think of the advert you have seen about it so that is what the semiotic sign does makes you look and think about the product and brand always.
