Radio M1- Radio X
Radio X
Listening to the radio as it is playing live the first thing that was on was an indie styled song called Dakota from the Stereophonics, this is just an idea of the songs that is played on the station. They played three songs before they spoke about Sam Fenders new song and then played it. I think that it follows this set structure of listen to a few songs, they speak about a new song or a fact about an artist and then continue to play the songs. They do shoutouts and give information about the radio and other artist, they use a friendly vibe, and they convince you to keep listening after a few adverts.
This structure is effective because they make sure they place a series of songs before they play a few minutes of adverts, but they also talk for a little while too. I could use the structured style because it keeps the audience listening by playing the best indie music and ten encouraging the audience to keep listening, so they don’t switch channels wen the adverts come on.
The show contains many indie rock songs played at any time of the day. The show has the presenters talk about new albums and mew songs that are coming out that have come out, they talk about the radio show and make it as relatable and friendly as they can. They talk about new festivals and concerts that are on and they remind everyone what's currently on the radio and that are playing live. The adverts that are played are adverts that you will see on tv, they are adverts that are heard all the time and nothing new. The music that is played is very indie rock music and some is slow, fast upbeat or sad, so it is just very related to the indie rock style.
They choose the topics they talk about because it matches with the vide of the show, the show is very concert and live singers related and so they talk about all the new songs that people might like. They match the context that they talk about the music because I see this target audience as young teens to the older generation that have heard this music in the past, when they talk about the new songs that are out by these artist that the older generation have heard they are going to want to listen to them and the younger teen generation they like this music are wanting to see them live so when they talk about the new concerts the younger generation can relate to it. I think that they way this is set up and the context that is involved with the show is very effective at keeping it liked to their target audience.
They use the “radio x” prerecorded sound that plays in between songs so people that are new to the radio or that have only just turned it on they know which radio station is on and what the jingle sounds like. The presenter that is addressing the audience talks to them in a friendly and calming way like they are your mate it’s a very chilled pout relaxed atmosphere that they create which links to the target audience massively, this is effective to them because then they are drawing in the right audience for them.
The presenters are Toby Tarrant, Chris Moyles and Dominic Byrne. As they are playing right now the presenter is Toby Tarrant, he is a very friendly and encouraging person to listen too. Different presenters talk about different things depending on the day or show but they mainly talk about the same things throughout then all. They have the same vibe when presenting but I think that is just how they are in person it is a very real and relaxed show which means I font think they put on the friendly feel I think they naturally have it and they are just talking to us as an audience how they would to their own friends.
This draws in the audience that little more because someone is going to wan to listen to someone that makes you feel comfortable then someone that is very aggressive or uncomfortable to listen too.
