Types of distribution

FM- FM stand for frequency modulation. Frequency Modulation (FM) is the encoding of information in a carrier wave by changing the instantaneous frequency of the wave. This is a form of Radio broadcasting. 

AM- AM stands for amplitude modulation. The modulation of a wave by varying its amplitude, used especially as a means of broadcasting an audio signal by combining it with a radio carrier wave. This is also a type of Radio that is used in everyday media. 

DAB- This stands for Digital Audio Broadcasting. It is just a digitally transmitted sound, this is different to FM. A sound that is transmitted via radio waves, and you can adjust it to suit your location.

Radio can be distributed in many different ways, some examples are online, mobile phone apps, digital music players, Freeview Tv, Sky Tv and Virgin Tv. There are many ways you can get hold of a radio station whether it is in the car on the actual radio or at home on your mobile phone, many radio stations have mobile phone apps that have become for popular due to radios not being too popular now. At home Alexa are very popular now instead of a radio so using the internet to get the radio has become very popular now, this means that the internet and the distribution being online will be more popular now than radio/ stereos.  

The period from the early 1920s through the 1940s is often called the "Golden Age of Radio". During this period AM radio was the main source of home entertainment, until it was replaced by television, however now with recent technology they have been able  to use radio on many different devices such as mobile, tv, internet and devices such Alexa. DAB varies from FM by sound quality is higher than FM radio. A DAB tuner can often also be used as an alarm clock radio and Bluetooth speaker. With a DAB radio, you can receive all radio stations, and you are no longer dependent on good reception. Many modern radio stations are also switching to DAB as an option. People might want to use things like DAB as their main radio station due to it being able yo be used all the time even in different areas that you might travel in.

Radio X has a live option on their app where you can listen to radio x and its sister stations live or where you can watch different interviews/ podcast that are on their app. They have on their app al the different options of what you can listen to. They have podcasts from radio x, podcasts from global, different music albums such as the 90s music or 00s music, different interviews and music news. 

I have listen everything that they provide on their app and i think that they have all of the additional choices on their because they don't just want to have pone radio station and that be it, i think that having all of the extra features means that people are going to have more things to listen too and it will gain them popularity because if someone doesn't like the radio but enjoys the podcasts they can still use Radio X for this. You can access Radio X and Global though your tv, which the helps people that might not use mobile apps and they are able to listen though it to tv its gaining again another target audience. 

Station choice

Radio x is distributed in different ways such as it is running radio x on FM station in London and Manchester so you can watch it on there in those areas. You can also listen to this radio station via a mobile app called Radio X which is also available on different devices. You can also listen to it on TV on different channels, you can find it online on the internet. You can even ask your Alexa and Google to play Radio X due to it being available on the too. 

Reasoning

This radio station plays songs by artists that may have been around for a very long time and they may be very popular to some people so i would think that many of the elderly generation and the older generation will know the music however, if they don't have things such as phones and Alexa's they might just listen to the music on their radio and tv this means that it is reaching all different types of target audiences. 

This is good for people that might not have newer technology. This is also good for people that don't have cars but like to be on the go and travelling there is the Radio X app which means that people that want to listen to it while on the go they can because they have the apps on their phone to listen to it. This is just good for reaching many different types of demographics and plyometrics so this means that more people are going to be listening to the radio station. They have adapted to modern ways because instead of it just being on the radio it is now moving onto the internet with websites for you to listen to it on and ,mobile phone apps that is definitely more modern.
