Marketing and Distribution

I want to make sure that I can advertise my magazine both digitally and on print. The reason for this is because I want to reach my target audience and make sure that I use a popular way of advertising to get my magazine seen. Media is a very popular and easy was of getting your work seen if you advertise it correctly. I have made sure that I mention on my magazine where to look for more information or purchase the magazine so I want to make sure it is easy for you to find it and purchase it. I am wanting these magazines to be put in very big supermarkets such as Tesco or Asda but i also want them to be in the environment where I would think they would be found in such as indie shops and music shops such as HMV. 

The theme of my magazine is an indie rock music magazine, NME magazine are music magazines but I wanted to do one in the style of a concert/ festival based magazine. I think this completely matters how I then market my magazine, my theme is a very music and younger generation based and I think if I have a print advert and an online advert I will reach the right audience. Thinking in more depth in recent year media has been controlling a lot of things in society and I think that is the best way of advertising my work. I want to make sure that my work does have different ways of marketing it though because I would like there to be internet marketing but also print. 

Print media is not used a lot now however, I would like to use it to link in the fact that my magazine is a type of print media and I want to make sure there is some form of print advertising. To think a bit more personal and deeper into he print advertising, I would like to use print for the people that like to keep things such as artist, scrapbookers, people that like memories and more creative things. Due to me being very creative and like keeping things as a keep sake memories I would like to think other people will do this. I think that's a little personal thought that is going into my work. 

I am doing my magazine that will be covering not only Doncaster but Sheffield, Leeds, Manchester and many more places in the UK and this is because I want to make sure that people will know about the concerts and festivals that aren't too close to home if they like the travel but also close to home who want something more local. This is why my magazine will be a regional because it does reach a wider range of people from all over the UK not just Doncaster. I am going to make sure it reaches the supermarkets all over the UK to make sure it reaches people how live in the different areas that i mention to make sure that they get to see what local concerts and festivals are. I also want to put my work online so I'm hoping that people can read and will look for it on there too.

Digital Distribution

Yes it will be a global distribution if it goes online so if people are willing to see concerts and festivals but they are in a country and they are willing to fly all that way they will then know where to go and where to tickets are. Things like this will gain more popularity for the rebranding of the magazine and then it will also been seen by print and advertising. 

This will definitely benefit me by gaining more popularity for the magazine so more people will know about it and will then gain more popularity for the website, media posts, and the actual print magazine. This will also get the concerts and festivals more popularity. Then I will also gain more sales if they magazines sell. 

With the world being a more media associated place I think that having an online magazine will definitely gain that popularity for me but also it will help the world in an environmental thought process. When you think about everything that's happening in the world then we know that we are going to do good for our world and not destroy our plant. Yes I still want my work to be print however, I want it to be online too globally so I am not sending over all of these print magazine to other countries because that will too add to the environmental issues so I am going to keep it online for a global audience where as locally can have a print version available.

Target Audience

I am going to attract my audience to my magazine by making sure I advertise it both print and online. I am also going to make sure that I will have contents in my magazine that will attract to my magazine and like what is involved with it. I feel like it is very important that I have a good appealing front cover that will catch the eye of the target audience. 

I think that my content is going to attract my audience because I am going to be talking about new songs and a lot about music converts festivals and more crazy things. This is going to attract the audience because it is a music based magazine and for my target audience I want them to like music and enjoy it.  I am going to be using dark colours but also pops of very vibrant colours to draw the eye and to make it feel like a concert or festival with the dark but bright colours. 

Red is a very attractive colour to have especially in media because it was used from the very start of media to draw attention to the public it was the colour that was used to make sure people could see that this point media was important and they would need to read. This has been used for many many years, a good example to use is a photographer called Barbra Kruger who used red and black and white in her work to attract the eye. The fronts will just be linked into the style of the magazine so it will be an indie styled font and a graffiti styled font to just add to the indie and rock themed magazine. I will find that this will appeal to the target audience and I think that personally it will be a good theme to match with the magazine. If nothing matches to the theme there is no point having a theme so I wanted to make sure it will appeal to the music lovers and indie rock fans. I will be using different colours to make sure that I can advertise my audience and attract the audience with the style that I use. 

The psychometrics for my magazine is that I want to make sure the appeal for music will be there it is a heavy music based magazine especially indie rock that is the style of the artists. Looking at the contents I need to make sure my target audience enjoys loud music and concerts that will be filled with people maybe a little music crazy. This will be a very idea audience. I want to make sure that they take into consideration that new people can also look at my magazine however, this magazine is based odd the ideas of someone who loves music, photography, concerts and festivals. Maybe someone who is like me I am a very quiet person but I will love and enjoy an amazing concert and indie rock music is my favourite.

Advertising

Above the line advertising

Above the line advertising is an advertising technique that uses all of the traditional offline advertising ways and it reaches a huge audience. This can be up to a global audience. This is good for a magazine because it can get the audience that interest a target audience to be looking at your magazine then gaining popularity for my magazine. This is a benefit however, this could also mean that my target audience might not 100% be reached if i don't use a specific below the line advertising. There are benefits and negatives to using both but both can be used. 


Below the line advertising

Below the line advertising is where something is advertised to a specific target audience, this is an audience such as certain demographics. This means that below the line channels are ideal for delivering highly targeted product messages to much smaller audiences that are likely to convert as a direct result of the advertising message. For my rebranded magazine this kind of advertising is suitable for my magazine because it is only reaching a certain type of target audience. I am targeting people that are of a certain age and that like a certain thing meaning music which is a specific genre of music as well. This is why i think below the line advertising is helpful because it can get to the specific targeted audience however, i think that of i also advertise to a bigger audience people might find it and a new interest and then gain more popularity from getting to a bigger audience.
