Comparison
This is the masthead i have created for my magazine, I used different mastheads from NME magazines to give me that inspiration. I made sure that I used my own creative twist by adding the highlights and a white outline to be able to make the font and title stand out. I wanted to have a different twist to it to match the unique music style the magazine is about. The indie part of this masthead is the white soft lines, yes they are bright and makes the font stand out but it is also softening and looks like a doodle which gives me messy indie vibes. Then the font is a dramatic rock styled font called urban graffiti, this is to link with the rock style of the magazine so we have a link between the indie and rock style. Making the masthead an indie rock styled masthead. This is what i have done to link my magazine to the masthead.
The NME magazine mastheads are very different but this one in particular is very different to mine. This masthead is very plain and simple which is standard for a masthead because one convention and code is that they have to be clear. Well, this is a very clear and bold masthead to add onto a magazine. They are very bright and making sure they stand out this is why the white is used a lot. The front cover of his magazine is very minimal and so they have linked that style into the masthead by making it a very simple design, i have done this by linking my theme and vibe to the masthead so the audience get an idea of what he magazine can be about.
To compere the both, mine and the professional one are both linking to the magazine style and they both have bold white colours to grab the attentions to a reader. "Codes and Conventions of Magazines Masthead – This is the title of the magazine; this piece of text must be prominent in order to attract the attention of audiences", this means that the aim of a masthead is to be bold and stands out enough to make sure the audience has an attraction to the cover page. This is what is both done with our mastheads,. The colours are standing out with the white which is typically used. The fronts are bold and clear for the audience to clearly read the piece and this is one of the first things they see so we need to make sure that they like the front cover so they are able to read on. They also need to know what the magazine is about, having the masthead as the main subject helps the audience know what they are about to read. If you can also noticed we have both taken advantage of the creative subject and added the whit outlines to add depth and a unique style to the masthead. This is only done slightly and it is done very differently on both however, it has been used in both and that it must be as great way to get the audiences attention. The NME magazine masthead has helped me use it as inspiration for my magazine and what i should include in my masthead design.

Codes
The codes and conventions that i have researched and used are:
Masthead- I have created my masthead to be its own new style of the NME magazine masthead. This has to match the vibe of my magazine and it has to attract the audience when looking. I have decided to use a very soft rock styled font to make sure it links in with what the magazine is about. I also did it to make sure it links in with the images i have taken for the magazine. The masthead is for the front cover so the image has to link in with the masthead and the other way round. The masthead is important to make sure people know what the magazine is, such as the brand name of the magazine or the main title of the magazine so people know what magazine it is or what it is about. These are supposed to be grabbing and intriguing. The bright colour of the green is in contrast to the background so it should stand out for the reader to clearly read it. I have a masthead and it does its job for my magazine.
Cover image- My cover image was taken by me, i planned a photoshoot of a singer in her singing element at a concert. I also took some professional images that are her posing for me in the way i want her too. Out of the ones i chose i decided to do one that was going to make her loo like he star of the show. I like this because she is the star of the magazine this time and i want the audience to know that. I also want it to look fun and bright which is what it does, i made sure it was colorful and attraction to the eye.
Featured article- This is on the double page spread indie the magazine. This is what it going to be effect for people to read and make use of the magazine. The article i did was about the confidence and happiness music can bring and how it can let you escape reality. This is so it can attract a certain type of audience but also inspire others. This is very positive and it shares a story which is why i think it is will be effect for people.
Coverlines- The coverlines have are just explaining what i have to offer in my magazine and what we should be ready for when you look inside the magazine. They are not giving too much away but they are there to intrigue you and tell you what the magazine has to offer. This is also done very subtly in my magazine because i want to make sure it is more exciting inside the magazine. Its like encouraging the audience to buy the magazine.
Strips and banners- In my magazine i haven't used anything like this however, i have used many titles and made sure everything is standing out so the readers know what they are reading and why it is important dur to the titles.
Price, Issue and Sell Lines- Magazines should include the date, issue, price and barcode on the cover. I have indeed added the price on the cover page, i have used a bright yellow box t highlight the price so people can see it and decide whether they want to get it or not due to the pricing. My price is £2.99 and i think that is reasonable and a standard price for a magazine and i am happy with this. I want all people of all ages to be able to afford this and i think it is a reasonable price. The barcode is also labeled onto the front cover of the magazine for easy access.

Photoshoot
My inspiration for my photoshoots were all different types of indie rock groups images that are taken when at a festival and concert. These images show off what a concert looks like and i want to show that to the audience using my own artist/ model with a set up that i have created to make it look like everyone is at a concert/ festival. These are the professional photos taken from photographers for The Royston's Club, indie rock band.

These are my images making sure i have taken inspiration from these professional shoots. You can see how i have taken the inspiration from these images and put that style into my own. The angle of the images cover all of them to make sure i get the artist in her element but also showing off the joy that the audience have because the audience for the magazine might be an audience at a future concert so i need to make sure that i can inspire them to go when looking at my images. The colour in my image are inspired by the bright and disco like lights at concerts. Luckily for me at the dance studio there were coloured disco light so i decided to make the setting look like a concert.
These images were simple to get, i used the images as my inspiration for the lighting and setting of the shot. These professorial images were shot in an active setting when the singers are in there element and that are working doing what they love. I wanted this vibe from these images so i was determined to make sure i get that active party element to make it look like my model is performing in her own show. This is so the audience know what they are looking at concert wise when it ones to the information abut new concerts. These images are going to give them the music element. All of my settings for this shot were set to auto and i also made sure that in some i had a weird effect and added the flash while moving. This created that messy party look and i wanted this to come through in some of my images. These has been no editing involved in my photography because i am happy with the lighting and how they have turned out. My model and actors were happy and safe with everything they were doing and i am happy to say that we have followed all of the safety precautions.
I made sure that all of my images are clear unless i have a different effect onto them however, even doing so they are still very clear. I am happy with this and so i know they are fit for the magazine.

Article
Looking at the layout i did then get inspiration from different magazines. There was a few ideas that i found but i wanted my double spread page to look busy and exiting. The information was in a neat layout with two images. This is follows with an exciting and bold title. I have mad sure that everything is placed neatly and has lots of information for my readers to read. I didn't want it to be too crammed with information but i wanted to add some photos to make the layout look interesting.
The bold title or letter is what makes the readers gain interest, there is a lot of writing but there is things that make it look less busy. This is what i have done for my magazine where i have made the background the exciting part with the different colours and images. That is there for the readers to make sense of what they are reading and so it doesn't look too cramped up. The colours i have sed link in with the magazine and they make the magazine look more on theme. The colours are good for the text because it is very clear for the audience read the text. A standard magazine will have a very clear layout for the users to read. This magazine as my inspiration has colours that are clear but also match the theme, this is what i have done for mine to make sure i am following a good layout for the article page. This magazine has an image as there first page of a double spread page however, i wanted to add more than one image to make it a but more full with content. Having one image is good for the magazine because it draws attention to the article however, i wanted to have multiple with more information so my magazine has all the information it needs to have.
